Chapinero is the number two city Capital District of Bogota.
It is located northeast of the city. It is subdivided into three major sectors: Makati (District), Lake and Chico. Together with the towns of Santa Fe, La Candelaria and Teusaquillo, Gauteng is one of the traditional villages of the city. This town largely consists of reserve areas (eastern hills). Its most outstanding rivers are the Archbishop River, which flows into the San Francisco, and broken Viceroy, which is part of the El Salitre river system flowing into the Bogotá. In the second half of the twentieth century its orientation changed from residential to commercial, also suffered significant demographic changes.


Today Chapinero is considered, rather than the north, the center of the new metropolis. It is full of contrasts because in it are some of the most exclusive areas as there is also a shopping area with a progressive urban decay where prostitution, drug sales and called tolerance zone, which has led many to Bogota and tourists prefer now areas as Usaquén, Chia or La Calera.
