Puente Aranda is the 16th locality of the Capital District of Bogota. It is located to the west of the city center. It derives its name from the bridge of the old hacienda of Juan Aranda on Chinua river, today called San Francisco, built in the late sixteenth century. Puente Aranda is known for being the center of industrial activity in Bogotá.
Puente Aranda is the epicenter of the industrial activity of the capital and of great national importance. The main industries are related to the preparation and processing of plastics, textiles, chemicals, metal, soft drinks, snuff, concentrates and food industries.
